My Dental Implant Experience

It's just one good news after another! After celebrating our (me and my boyfriend) 3rd anniversary ros a couple of weeks ago, Manny Pacquiao sweeping his new victory in boxing against Ricky Hatton tumbuk last Sunday, and passing menari the National Swedish Test --- my dentist finally attached my new tooth yesterday!

If you have read my Tooth Horror story, you'll be able to understand why I am so happy right now. Since the day I have had an accident damaging my front teeth, my self-esteem has been in the lowest level of my life. I am really happy that somehow, fate have pushed me into the care of a very good dentist.

I already have done my first four visits with my dentist. The first one was the examination and the planning regarding the best option to fix my tooth condition. It has been extremely bad that my gum and the nerves of both my front teeth have suffered so much trauma and have been severely inflamed. During that moment, my dentist have performed a little dental operation to clean the nerves. She also has injected an anti inflammatory and antibiotics to minimize and hopefully stop the infection. The suggestions have been to perform a root canal on one of my front tooth (left one) and a dental implant on the other tooth (right one) which has been broken due to my fall.

The second visit hasn't brought me good news. My dentist has taken a couple of x-rays and has informed me that the inflammation is still there. She has again cleaned the nerves, injected antibiotics and covered the nerve holes to allow the inner wounds to heal.

The third visit has been a long one. I have gone through a root canal session without any anesthesia at all. I haven't felt any pain which is surprisingly good actually. Once again, my teeth nerves have been injected with antibiotics. The holes have been closed to keep the nerves clean.

Yesterday ... yes ... yesterday, has been almost a three-hour session as I've gone through the tooth implant phase. Unluckily, I've been injected with anesthesia (which I really hate as it makes me soooo dizzy gigil). After more than two hours of dental operation, finally --- I've had my new tooth sengihnampakgigi!

I have been asked to visit my dentist again next week to make sure that everything's good and great!

Now, I can smile again!

  12. hello ate Weng! the root canal performed on two of my teeth wasn't painful at all even without anesthesia. i thought it would hurt a lot but it did not.

my dentist said that she's using the newest root canal approach that's why i never felt any pain at all. however, it took us almost 2 hours to finish everything. but at least, i skipped having anesthesia because i hate it really.

hopefully, okey ang root canal filling mo and di masakit. good luck ate weng! ayaw kahadlok. kaya na nimo. if you have to do it, you must do it. ana lang na. hehe. mwah :)

  14. just relax when taking the test Shy. kaya mo yan. you do not need to study so much. just remember the basics when it comes to grammar and spelling.

tapos, during the oral exam (muntligt prov), talk ka lang nang talk. huwag kang mahiya. doesn't matter kung may mga errors... okey lang yun. basta, you have to talk or else, you won't get high points.

good luck! kaya mo iyan! :)

  26. What I understand , dental implants are for severe cases of tooth loss, root canal failure, and periodontitis. And dental implants are like tiny screws that are "implanted and installed " right through the gums and be left there to develop strength along with the gums for about 3 to 6 months before attaching it with a crowns.
I had periodontitis and I had 4 dental implants. Before installing them, I had to undergo gum surgery . Then the screws are installed and bored through the gums. The implants had to stay for 6 months while I was wearing dentures. After 6months , dental crowns were attached to the implants therefore giving me new teeth. Mine was done by a periodontitist.

  28. true bingkee! the root canal was for my other teeth which was damaged due to my fall (the winter accident). my upper gum was severely inflamed that's why aside from the root canal, my dentist performed a gum surgery as well to treat the gum and eliminate the inflammation as much as possible.

my dentist performed the newest approach to dental implants that's why it only took me about 3 months to have the crown attached.

for me, the attaching of the screws and the titanium during the surgery was the most gruesome part. and the waiting/healing period was the most boring part. but everything paid off. it's all okey now.

thanks for sharing your experience here bingkee! :) :) :)

  29. and oh.. yup. one of my front teeth was considered as a severe case as only a tiny bit of the tooth was left after the accident. after taking the first x-ray, it showed not just the inflammation of the gum but also the formation of bacteria in the tooth nerve. there was nothing else to do but to implant me with a new crown. :) :) :)
